The Body of Adam McAllister Found by Law Enforcement

Adam McAllister had been missing since last Wednesday; law enforcement found his body near where he lived on Quaker Ridge Road near Quaker Ridge Road on Wednesday morning near where he last spoke about ice fishing at home on Feb 27.

Early Life and Education

Adam McAllister was last seen leaving his Greene home to go ice fishing on Feb. 27, according to law enforcement officials. A search team using dogs on Wednesday morning located Adam McAllister’s body approximately one-third of a mile away on Quaker Ridge Road; according to Androscoggin County sheriff’s officials his death is not being considered suspicious.

Adam McAllister is survived by his parents, brothers, sister-in-law and nieces; two dogs; a brother-in-law; close friends and many family members. To commemorate Adam McAllister’s life and legacy, his family will host a spring celebration featuring works for solo saxophone composed by Gunther Schuller as well as works composed for saxophone quartets such as Caleb Burhans’ Kati Agocs’ and Jennifer Higdon’s works alongside Kristin Kuster’s world premiere compositions!

Professional Career

He has performed and recorded for international labels including Nonesuch, Stradivarius, XAS/Symphonic, Summit and OMM. Featuring on over 50 albums worldwide as well as three GRAMMY Award winning recordings.

As well as performing saxophone concertos, he has given world premiere performances of groundbreaking works by some of today’s foremost composers like Gunther Schuller, Caleb Burhans, Kati Agocs, Jennifer Higdon and Kristin Kuster – to name just a few. Additionally he was invited as guest artist at Bang On A Can Marathon as well as touring extensively as soloist with PRISM Quartet.

Professionally, he played Conference Premier football with Luton Town, Mansfield Town (winning their play-off final) and Carlisle United before enjoying loan spells at Rainworth Miners Welfare and Worksop Town before retiring in March 2015. After making his comeback to football through non-league Sutton Coldfield Town in 2018, he made the transition full circle!

McAllister has premiered over 250 works from many of today’s premier composers, such as Gunther Schuller, Caleb Burhans, Jennifer Higdon, Kati Agocs and Mischa Zupko as well as William Bolcom’s Saxophone Quartet with Martin Bresnick and Kristin Kuster as solo compositions and quartets from William Bolcom Martin Bresnick & Kristin Kuster quartets and quartets under internationally-renowned conductors like Donald Sinta Nicholas Phan & Howard Watkins among many others.

McAllister possesses an extraordinary level of community involvement. As an active member of Northeastern University’s Open Table group, he enjoys exploring backwoods, dirt roads and fishing ponds throughout Somerset County; fishing buddies include his number one fishing buddy (his dad!), family, cats and dogs! In addition, McAllister works closely with senior political leaders and development agencies on global projects related to public safety, private sector partnerships, climate change resilience resilience as part of global strategies.

Adam McAllister, 42, who had been reported missing last week was found Wednesday morning near his Quaker Ridge Road home on Quaker Ridge Road and spoke of going ice fishing before leaving on foot, according to police. A Southern Maine Law Dogs search team located his body approximately one-third mile into the woods from where his house stood.

He was an enthusiastic proponent of environmental and social justice issues, working worldwide to enhance public safety, private sector partnerships, climate change resilience and disaster risk management – serving on the World Bank’s emergency preparedness and response global advisory team and supporting government disaster management programs in Canada.
