Adam McLain – Partner at Freshstream Investment Partners
Adam McLain is currently a partner at Freshstream Investment Partners and was previously European General Counsel and Managing Director for TowerBrook from 2011-15, serving also with Sullivan & Cromwell for nine years prior. Additionally, Adam currently pursues a PhD degree in English at University of Connecticut, researching dystopian literature, legal theory and sexual justice issues.
Early Life and Education
Adam McLain is currently an MA/PhD candidate in English at the University of Connecticut, conducting research and writing on dystopian literature, legal theory, and sexual justice issues. Earlier, he earned a BA in English, editing, women’s studies from Brigham Young University; later earning an MA specializing in women, gender, and sexuality from Harvard Divinity School.
He holds several accolades including being selected as a 2021-2022 Harvard Frank Knox Traveling Fellow and media manager of Dialogue: A Journal of Mormon Thought. Additionally, he has written several books such as Machines for Making Gods and Queer Mormon Theology.
Growing up in Norwood, Ohio and attending Norwood High School before furthering his education at Thomas More College and Northern Kentucky University. Beginning coaching career in 2003 at Loveland High School before later moving to St Xavier High School.
Prior to becoming a mortgage lender, McLain spent time trading commodities on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and thoroughly enjoys working in this dynamic industry. Mortgage lending brings him great satisfaction because of its wide array of benefits for his clients and is therefore his chosen path of expertise.
McLain graduated from Harvard Divinity School and currently specializes in editing, women’s studies and religious theory in his MA in English degree from University of Connecticut’s Department of English; while concurrently being enrolled as a PhD student there. His research areas of special interest are dystopian literature and legal theory.
Ellen McLain is an award-winning voice actress and composer, best known for her roles as GLaDOS from Portal series, Administrator from Overwatch game and Half-Life series as well as winning two Emmy awards and being nominated for Grammy awards. Additionally she works as teacher.
Achievement and Honors
Adam McLain has received several honors and awards during his career, as well as being recognized for his service to his community. A graduate of both Norwood High School and Thomas More College, Adam currently coaches outside linebackers and special teams at Moeller High School.
Adam holds both a Master of Divinity from Harvard University and an undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University with concentrations in English with minors in communications, editing and women’s studies. Adam was recently chosen as a 2021-22 Harvard Frank Knox Traveling Fellow; currently, he serves as content manager at Dialogue: A Journal of Mormon Thought as well as guest editing SCHWA. Furthermore, he wrote his dissertation on Mormonism in science fiction for OUT Foundation Press Press.

Adam McLain loves going to live concerts with his wife and family. He has participated in various music projects and loves performing live; his family band can capture any audience’s heart with their energetic performances, prompting foot-stomping applause.
Formerly, he served as European General Counsel and Managing Director at TowerBrook. He obtained both his J.D. from Penn Law and B.A. from Claremont McKenna College respectively.
Adam McLain, an American doctor forced to treat Nick during his captivity in Afghanistan, was instantly struck by both his beauty and courage; yet Nicole’s insistence on remembering who her true love was made him question his feelings for her.
McLain has distinguished himself both on-stage and behind-the-scenes as an actor, but also through his successful mortgage brokering business. This venture began after leaving an interest rate and financial futures trading career on both international and U.S. exchanges due to family obligations and his desire for more flexible schedules.
He currently resides in Aspen, Colorado with his wife and three children. In his free time he plays guitar under the influence of K.C. & The Sunshine Band, Tears For Fears and AC/DC as his musical inspirations; having performed for audiences as large as 20,000 fans at Madison Square Garden; including Marc Anthony himself! Along with traveling extensively across America he and his family love experiencing all it has to offer before looking for their dream home together.
