Early Life and Education
Adam spearing was born and raised in Nassau, The Bahamas where he spent much of his time fishing with his grandfather and brothers. Later, he found great pleasure in boating; becoming captain for several private and charter vessels.
Adam Spearing has taken to the water in his free time for freediving. Taking courses in Ko Tao, Thailand and Honduras as well as competing at a high level on the Dahab freediving circuit; learning equalization’s significance while competing and teaching courses to others he now makes it one of his goals to educate others with mind and body connection through freediving.
Professional Career
Adam Spearing joined Salesforce in 2012, bringing with him years of experience from Hewlett Packard, IBM, Sun Microsystems and start-ups. Since then, he has led CIOs on successful transformation journeys using Salesforce’s platform.
Since 2012, he has served as Senior Area Vice President, Platform & Communities EMEA with Salesforce and is accountable for overseeing their platform business in EMEA. In this position he helps Chief Information Officers (CIOs) understand how Salesforce technology can solve their organization’s most intractable challenges.
As the UK skills gap widens, he asserts that we must concentrate on upskilling teams now and laying a foundation for tomorrow. As an example, he points to Salesforce’s growing apprenticeship scheme which gives young people without university qualifications an opportunity to earn and learn through their platform.
Achievement and Honors
Adam Spearing has spent nearly 10 years at Salesforce and remains passionate about its work and clients. As leader of its Business Transformation Team, he assists sales teams to use technology effectively in solving client business problems.
Honors and awards include receiving the Student Chapter of American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics award for undergraduate teaching, an AIAA teaching award, and Sigma Tau Society graduate teaching award. He was also honored to join MIT Undergraduate Academic Team (UAT). Furthermore, he served as teaching assistant for Yngve K. Raustein Award which recognizes outstanding scholarship, teamwork, community building within and beyond MIT and served on its Student Advisory Board (SAB) of its Engineering Program.
Personal Life
Adam Hammes enjoys carving fish decoys as an additional hobby and business venture. Taking after his dad, Adam decided to turn this activity into his part-time profession.
At 29 years old, he started carving decoys from one-foot blocks of basswood and now boasts his own line. Carving over 6,000 decoys already and planning more this year!
Spearing has long advocated spearing as an ethical method of hunting. His argument? A spear penetrates deeper, causes greater damage and kills faster than either an arrow or bullet can.
Apart from spearing, he also enjoyed golf and fishing – as well as spending time with his wife and daughter. Overall, his life was fulfilling.
