Adam Visokay Earns All-American Honors at the Nike Southeast Regionals

Adam Visokay earned his third All-American status in the 3,000 meters at Nike Southeast Regionals and will advance to Nationals this Saturday in Portland.

Marsella experienced severe head trauma during the crash; doctors reported that his skull experienced 15 concussions from it.

Professional Career

Adam Visokay of Seattle, Washington is an established distance runner. He has competed on national stages such as the 2014 USA Indoor Championships and 2015 Nike Cross National Meet; also competing in 3000m steeplechase and 10,000m track running with personal best times of 7:54 for 3000m and 29:14 for 10k respectively.

Visokay first made waves at VHSL Group AAA State Outdoor meet during his junior year and has continued to surprise runners by using his furious final lap kick to take top spots each subsequent season. Last fall he stunned running community by finishing second at state cross country meet behind two eventual Foot Locker finalists.

Visokay was a key member of Syracuse University’s cross country squad alongside Joel Hubbard (34th place finish), Philo Germano (49th), and Iliass Aouani (108th). Along with high school success, Visokay has competed on both UVA’s team (34th) and Syracuse University (108th).

Achievement and Honors

Adam Visokay, a senior from Western Albemarle High School, ran an impressive time at the Nike Southeast Regionals this past weekend in Cary, NC – eight seconds faster than his previous best time and qualifying him to compete at this weekend’s Nike Campus Nationals in Portland.

Former Albemarle standout and NCAA competitor John Lund will join Syracuse Running this fall as part of their masters degree pursuit. Lund brings with him solid credentials (sub 8:00 3K time) and experience competing at NCAA levels – which should make his joining instantly beneficial to team SU and make for a welcome addition – his coaches are delighted that such an aggressive competitor is joining their ranks!

Personal Life

Adam Visokay was an integral component of UVA’s success and now brings with him an abundance of depth and experience to Syracuse’s squad. Already feeling at home in orange, Adam will help guide younger runners without placing undue strain on them too early. Coaches appreciate Adam’s kind heart while he pursues his master’s degree.

Visokay was involved in a moped accident with UVA teammate Nick Marsella that left him seriously injured, including suffering a skull fracture which resulted in one eyeball becoming dislodged from its socket.
