Early Life and Education
Adam Adams Horns was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He holds a bachelor’s degree in music performance from Carnegie Mellon University and currently works as a private trumpet instructor as well as playing cornet in both River City Brass and Wheeling Symphony Orchestras.
Adams draws inspiration for his music from many styles, particularly classical works by Beethoven and Wagner, Romanticism, Fearful Symmetries and The Wound-Dresser by Walt Whitman – among many others – among them Absolute Jest (2012) and The Second Quartet (2014) for string quartet and orchestra respectively, Fearful Symmetries as well as The Wound-Dresser composed during civil war volunteering services by volunteering.

Achievement and Honors
Adams made many invaluable contributions to America. Notably, he created the zone system which makes it possible to create different hues of black and white shades.
His work helped popularize photography in America. He earned multiple awards and is widely considered to be one of the greatest photographers ever.
He was an active member of the Sierra Club for more than three decades and served on its board of directors.
Adams was appointed minister plenipotentiary to Russia in 1809 and spent five years there, witnessing Napoleon’s march across Europe and attempts at conquest against Russia.
Adams places great value in his family: His father founded a company that manufactures wind instruments while his mother taught music classes.
Adams also had an aunt and uncle who were musicians, so he spent his childhood listening to their records and learning guitar from them.
Adams was encouraged by his parents to pursue music, and eventually graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree from University of Southern California. Since then he has won various awards and accolades.
Adams is an accomplished musician, having recorded multiple albums as an accomplished trumpet player and arranger. He has worked as an arranger and composer for artists like Eric B. & Rakim, Salt-N-Pepa, Teddy Riley and many others as well as serving as an engineer at Power Play Studios.
