Verone Thomas – An Attorney From Shreveport-Bossier City

On Bayou, drummer Thomas Stronen and clarinettist Marthe Lea reunite as part of an intimate, space-conscious trio. Conceived as an open rehearsal and sound research project, their music is freely improvised while simultaneously being created thoughtfully in real time.
Early Life and Education
Thomas was raised in Shreveport-Bossier City and attended C. E. Byrd High School before attending Louisiana State University and Loyola University New Orleans to complete his higher education studies. There he earned both of his undergraduate degrees as well as his Juris Doctor from Loyola in 2011. Subsequently he has become licensed attorney.
Bayou Thomas has always made sure his ears were open when it came to listening and understanding what Tommies had to say. He strongly believes in creating an open and approachable student government where students could feel comfortable coming with any issues or worries.
When not working, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing tennis and soccer, gardening and gardening with plants he finds beautiful – especially when snowing! Additionally he is an avid reader, supporting his local library as well as taking in nature, especially when snowfall comes.
Professional Career
Verone Thomas has several troubling episodes in his past that have stained his professional reputation. In 2011, he was arrested for felony spousal abuse in California while six years before in Texas he was charged with evading arrest after a police chase involved his vehicle.
Thomas has shown an unwavering dedication to his family and community despite facing setbacks, serving on the Bayou District Foundation board, being chairman of Greens Bayou Coalition and leading civic initiatives with Bring New Orleans Back Commission and Fore!Kids Foundation.
As part-time MMA coach for T-Webb MMA fighters, he will compete at Bayou Fighting Championship’s Capitol City Fight Night card in St Gabriel Louisiana this August.
Achievement and Honors
Thomas has long been recognized by various groups and organizations for his accomplishments and talents as an orchestra member, most recently receiving an Individual Achievement award from Louisiana Endowment for Humanities (LEH).
Bisrat Bayou, as undergraduate Student Body President of St. Thomas, has been at the forefront of issues impacting St. Thomas students. A neuroscience major and public health minor, Bisrat is also involved with Black Empowerment Student Alliance and African Nations Student Association and serves as a mentor for diversity and inclusion services linkages.
Monroe Chamber of Commerce and University of Louisiana at Monroe College of Business hosted their annual Best of the Bayou Preps Awards Banquet to recognize area high school athletes, coaches, male and female athlete of the year as well as special recognition to David Robinson Jr. from Central Lafourche High School who was honored as male athlete of the year.
Personal Life
Thomas’ personal life revolves around his wife and three children. In addition, he enjoys hiking, running and binge-watching the latest streaming series. Thomas is a member of Shreveport-Bossier Chamber and active at church; additionally he has an affinity for real estate law; this passion allows him to assist clients buying or selling homes.
As undergraduate student body president, Bayou is at the forefront of issues impacting his fellow Tommies. His goal is to be an open and approachable leader who students feel safe confiding in with their thoughts and concerns. Furthermore, as a certified health coach he leads by example and encourages others to make small steps towards living healthier lifestyles.
