In 1897, a man from Seattle, Washington set out to the Yukon on an adventure. To make the journey, he risked his life savings as well as nearly 2,000 pounds worth of gear. He also purchased two fine stock horses, which he used to haul 2,000 pounds of gear. But once he reached the Yukon, he found himself unable to walk. He spent countless hours standing at a rail and finally emptied his stomach into the freezing water.
