If you have never attended the BET Awards before, you’re missing out! The event takes place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. It’s the only award ceremony that celebrates black excellence. The line-up features some of today’s biggest names, including 2 CHAINZ, Bryson Tiller, KATT WILLIAMS and MIKE EPPS. In addition to recognizing top black artists and bands, the BET Awards feature a special award given to a veteran group or artist. The veteran artists perform after the popular singers, which is a tribute to the honoree’s contribution to society. The BET Awards also introduced a Humanitarian Award in 2002 to honor philanthropists and celebrities who dedicate their time and resources to charitable causes. The Humanitarian Award is announced during a lavish press conference. The Lifetime Achievement Award recipients are informed through mini-documentaries.
