Britt McHenry was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. She was a soccer player on the Stetson University soccer team. Britt worked as a model while in college and did some TV broadcasting. After graduating from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University, Britt McHenry started her career as a reporter and anchor at WJLA-TV, ABC Television’s Washington affiliate. Britt McHenry graduated from Medill and worked as a reporter at WJLA-TV, NewsChannel 8 Washington, D.C., learning how to do TV interviews and covering local stories.
Before joining ESPN, Britt McHenry was a journalist at ABC7. Outside the Lines, SportsCenter and Baseball Tonight were her sports coverage. In March 2014, she left ABC and tweeted about her dismissal. She was one of 100 employees who were fired by the company at the time. According to reports, her dismissal was due to her being too white and being overpaid. Britt McHenry went on to contribute to The Federalist as a columnist.

McHenry’s lawsuit against Rupert Murdoch relates to her sexual harassment at Fox. The harassment began in August 2018 while McHenry and Murdoch were co-hosting the “Un-PC” show on Fox Nation. According to the complaint, “Dick pic coming within 5 seconds!” She felt uncomfortable by these and other comments. Despite her complaints the company has not taken any steps to remove the offending broadcaster.
