Carli Lloyd – Celebrity Soccer Player
Carli Lloyd is an American soccer player. She has won two Olympic gold medals and two World Cups. In addition, she has been a member of the United States Women’s National Team for over a decade.
Lloyd was born on July 16, 1982 in Delran Township, South Jersey. At the age of five, she started playing soccer. Her high school coach, Rudy ‘The Red Baron’ Klobach, was instrumental in shaping her game. After graduating from Delran High School, Lloyd studied under Rudy ‘The Red Baron’ and attended Rutgers University for four years. As a junior, she was named the best female player in the CONCACAF region.
Lloyd joined the United States women’s national team in 2005. She made her international debut in a match against Ukraine. The next year, she scored a pair of goals against Japan in the 2012 Olympics. This was only the second time an American woman had scored both goals in an Olympics.
In her collegiate career, Lloyd scored 117 points (50 goals) and was selected as a Big East Academic All-Star. Before her first collegiate season, she won four straight Nordic Cup victories with the USWNT Under-21 squad.
After a successful collegiate career, Lloyd continued to play professionally. She began with Chicago Red Stars and then joined the Houston Dash during the 2014 and 2015 seasons. During the 2017-2018 season, she played for NJ/NY Gotham. Afterwards, she played for Manchester City from 2018-2021.
She was named the FIFA Player of the Year in both 2015 and 2016. In addition, she was the highest paid female athlete in the world in March of 2021. She is also a business partner for Whole Foods Market and Krave Jerky. And, she’s a fan of golf and four wheeling.
Although she has retired from professional soccer, Lloyd wants to remain involved with the sport. In fact, she’s a member of the President’s Council on Fitness.
She has also been appointed as a brand ambassador for various companies, including Nike and Lifeway. Lloyd was also named the first female celebrity athlete for Teqball USA.
Lloyd is the all-time leading goal scorer for the U.S. women’s national team, and she is the only female player to score a gold-winning goal in both the 2008 and 2012 Olympics. She is ranked third among all-time American players in career international goals.
Lloyd has appeared in eight world championships. She has represented the United States at four Olympic Games. But, she won’t have a chance to prove herself in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, because of an epidemic of COVID-19. Because of this, the Games will be contested in 2021.
Aside from her achievements as a soccer star, Lloyd has been honored with induction into the New Jersey Hall of Fame. She is the oldest American female to play in an Olympic soccer tournament in Tokyo last summer. So, it’s no wonder why she has been a fan favorite. It’s a talented athlete that has always surpassed expectations.
