Dan Meehan was an incredible family man. He enjoyed taking his family on day trips and discovering new towns and places together.

He was also known for being very generous, often making donations to local charities.

Early Life and Education

Dan was raised in Staten Island’s lively, welcoming Irish neighborhood by parents who instilled him with values such as family and hard work; their kindness inspired Dan to perform random acts such as giving scratch-off tickets to strangers and purchasing groceries for those in need.

He became a successful business owner and leader in his community. Additionally, he served on both House Armed Services and Judiciary committees and was an influential sponsor of the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act, better known as McCain-Feingold in the Senate and Shays-Meehan in the House.

He was the loving father of Suzanne Coyle and Melissa Meehan and an amazing grandfather to Timothy, Patrick and Finn. Additionally he was brother to Marianne Smith, John Meehan and Joseph Meehan (deceased).

Professional Career

He was an active volunteer, giving back to many nonprofit organizations. Additionally, he served in the military and was an honored Knights of Malta member. Timothy Coyle leaves behind his wife Suzanne Coyle; sons Timothy and Patrick; daughter Danielle; nieces; nephews and grandkids as his legacy.

As an advisor, he assists clients on the tax aspects of fund restructurings and recapitalizations, fund secondary transactions, and minority investments into fund sponsor groups. He has extensive experience navigating complex tax issues while finding practical yet innovative solutions that benefit his clients.

Dan is not only known for his professional career but is an avid sportsman as well. He finds great inspiration in small business success stories and bootstrapping strategies; each project undergoes an iterative approach.

Daniel Meehan made quality, diversity and access central components of UMass Lowell’s vision as chancellor; driving its rise into the top tier of national universities. His generosity has touched the lives of many in developing nations around the globe.

Meehan’s charitable endeavors have garnered him numerous honors and awards, such as honorary degrees from Suffolk University, Green Mountain College, Shenkar College of Engineering and Design in Israel, Merrimack College, Queens University Belfast and University Cork.

He was the beloved husband of Eileen, doted father to Suzanne Coyle, Melissa Meehan and Danielle Meehan as well as an adoring grandfather for Timothy and Finn. Furthermore he was known as an attentive brother, uncle and friend by many and will surely be missed as an individual who had the gift of kindness towards all he encountered in life.

Personal Life

Dan Meehan was known for being an extremely generous and passionate individual who believed strongly in spreading wealth around. He would give out scratchers so people could test the luck of the Irish or purchase groceries for those in need.

He was a masterful storyteller who loved sharing his adventures from sea. His favorite activity was taking long walks with Eileen and their two beloved pups – they all loved one another deeply.

He leaves behind five children: Laurie Lukaszewicz (deceased), Theresa and Zach Felknor, Daniel Meehan Jr, Suzanne Meehan and Ali Siadat along with their spouses; 18 grandchildren. He was laid to rest at Bay Pines National Cemetery in St. Petersburg, Florida but will live on in our hearts and memories of those who knew him.

Dan is currently serving as Director of Operations for Greg Harris Group and overseeing business development and escrow management, having overseen over $100 Million worth of transactions successfully. With extensive experience managing complex logistical processes while building meaningful client relationships, he possesses great skill at his position.

Meehan was born to Margaret A. “Rita” (Lovett) of Hingham and Edward D. Meehan of Scituate; Kristen Meehan Sauter is his sister in Scituate while Liam Meehan, Harrison Meehan and Madeleine Meehan all consider him their uncle.

He is a self-employed drummer who has played on early Cliff Richard and Shadows hits, as well as working with Jet Harris, Hank Marvin and Bruce Welch from the Drifters to form their band. Additionally, his tax practice specializes in private investment funds and their sponsors.
