Daniel Kifle

Athlete – Daniel Kifle

Early Life and Education

The Book of Daniel is a biblical text detailing the adventures of prophet Daniel and his three companions during their Babylonian exile (6th century bc). It is part of both Jewish Ketuvim and Christian Old Testament Prophets sections; many scholars believe its composition occurred after this date due to numerous historical problems.

After Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon besieged Jerusalem, he carefully chose young men who showed an aptitude for training in the ways of his empire. These Judean men received names that obscured their Hebrew heritage: Daniel became Belteshazzar; Hananiah became Mishael and Azariah became Shadrach Meshach Abednego.

Daniel is an increasingly popular given and surname with this term meaning, “God is my judge”. It is both given and surname in use today.
