Golfer – Kurt Kitayama

Kurt Kitayama hails from an extremely tight-knit family in Chico California. He was raised by his parents Clifford and Rumiko along with his younger brother Daniel. Clifford worked as an entomologist before founding Scientific Method, Inc – an agricultural consulting firm which provided farmers with assistance on any problems that arose in agriculture.

His passion and hard work finally paid off as he won his maiden PGA Tour victory in March 2023.

Early Life and Education

Kurt Kitayama was born January 14th 1993 under the Capricorn sign and raised in Chico California with his parents Clifford and Rumiko who instilled him with an appreciation of sports – particularly golf – through playing together often at Butte Creek Country Club.

Although golf was his main interest during his formative years, he also developed a keen appreciation for basketball. He served as point guard on Chico Blazin Heat (the AAU team associated with his high school) as a point guard, eventually graduating as co-captain at Chico High.

Clifford Kitayama, Sr. is an entomologist and the founder of Kitayama Ag Services LLC – an agricultural consulting service located in Chico, California. Throughout his life he has always had an interest in biology, fruits, plants and insects; earning both undergraduate and master’s degrees in Business Administration/Management and Finance from University of Hawaii at Hilo and California State University respectively.

Professional Career

At 30, Kitayama made his professional golf debut and has won multiple tournaments since. In fact, he became the fastest European Tour winner ever by taking home Oman Open after just 11 appearances!

He made an impressive start to his PGA Tour career with two impressive finishes at Honda Classic (February) and Mexico Open (May).

Born in Chico to Clifford and Rumiko, he has one sibling, Daniel. Daniel played golf from 2007-2008 at University of Hawaii Hilo before turning professional as a caddie. Daniel has an athletic build with a distinguished physique which creates an intimidating presence on the golf course.

Chico High graduate Jaewon Cho has an affinity for playing the game of golf. His passion and commitment can be seen by his consistent performances over time; in fact, he holds the fastest record to win two events on the European Tour!
