Emerson College Men’s Soccer Coach Daniel Toulson
Emerson College men’s soccer coach Daniel Toulson faces an uphill climb this season as his roster contains six graduated seniors, making up half the Lions roster. Their challenging schedule will include Bates College – last season’s last place finisher in NESCAC standings; Suffolk University and Salve Regina will also host them as crucial rivals.
Early Life and Education
Toulson was born and raised in New Zealand. As a football player at Hamilton Boys’ High School he later attended Kenyon College where he earned an NCAA Division III National Championship title before going on to Catholic University where he obtained a Master’s in Sociology with an emphasis on Sport and International Development.
Mr. Williamson has also appeared in several films and television series, such as M*A*S*H, Hill Street Blues, The Goonies Empire of the Sun NYPD Blue. Additionally he portrayed Cosmo Renfro in The Fugitive by director Anthony Minghella while also portraying Caesar for Wachowskis’ Bound film as well as Netflix Sense8 series.
Professional Career
Daniel Toulson is an accomplished and successful soccer coach, serving as co-head coach at Catholic University from 2016-2022 and head coach of Emerson College since 2017. Daniel attended Kenyon College before earning a master’s degree in international studies from Catholic. Additionally, Daniel coached Hamilton Boys’ High School in his native New Zealand.
He’s always focused on building character and the overall development of his players.
Achievement and Honors
Toulson holds both a Bachelor and Master of Arts from Kenyon College. Additionally, he has experience coaching high school level soccer teams both domestically and abroad as well as recruiting internationally.
The Lions will look to build off of their 2022 success under Toulson and rising seniors Aaron Tyler, Connor Donovan, Ben Deeming, Thomas Chuaqui, Cameron Arendt and Ethan Fitzsimmons this season. However, Toulson doesn’t wish to set lofty expectations; rather he wants them to focus on improving themselves through hard work while being good teammates and investing in each other as teammates.
Personal Life
Daniel Toulson has earned himself an international reputation not only as a professional but also as an avid skateboarder, and his videos can be seen around the world. Additionally, Daniel is actively engaged with community service initiatives; even taking part in charity events.
Toulson hails from New Zealand and holds both a Bachelor’s of International Studies from Kenyon College and Master’s in Theological Studies from Catholic University of America. With extensive recruiting experience both domestically and in Nigeria, Toulson can bring his knowledge and expertise into every recruiting initiative undertaken for clients both here in America and there.
Even with their success from 2022, Toulson doesn’t intend to set high expectations for this season’s team. Instead, he wants them to focus on investing their time, effort, and being good teammates.
