Daniels Lake, North Carolina

Daniels Lake is a beautiful mountain lake offering a peaceful environment and only 10 minutes away from Manson Memorial Hut.

Start at Lake Daniell & Marble Hill carpark/campsite located off SH7 near Lewis Pass for this walk. It is a basic campsite right on the water but may become awkward as hikers pass your tent during their trek through.

Early Life and Education

The Charlie Daniels Band’s iconic song “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” holds special meaning for southeastern North Carolina; Mark Daniels himself hails from this region of North Carolina.

Daniels served for many years on the Schaumburg Park District board and played an instrumental role in its major projects such as the Sport Center, Ken Alley Safety Park, Atcher Island Water Park and Bison’s Bluff Nature Playground.

She was an enthusiastic champion for children’s education, encouraging her students to pursue both nursing and bachelor degrees simultaneously. She believed a well-rounded education was key for lifelong success – something which resonates through her work today when encouraging staff and students to build strong relationships with families and stakeholders in the community.

Professional Career

Daniels held various administrative positions within the Graduate School and Chaired its Department of Community and Environmental Sociology while at UW-Madison.

At age 11, Daniels took up fishing urban ponds and soon started winning bass tournaments with the support of his father Rogers who sent some new tackle for Daniels to try.

Daniels won the 2013 TBF National Championship on Grand Lake and secured himself a spot on the FLW Tour, competing in FLW and Bassmaster Elite Series events for two seasons before transitioning into Major League Fishing Bass Pro Tour events in 2020. Since then he’s established himself as a top player on this tour – attributing his success to seizing opportunities as they arise and making the most out of opportunities presented him.

Achievement and Honors

Daniels achieved much in her lifetime, receiving numerous achievements and honors. At her memorial service, her former students such as Jose Paez and Frank Costello gave testimony of her influence in their lives.

The Honors College was established in 1999 with the belief that outstanding scholars deserve an individualized academic experience. This program seeks to challenge and nurture these students as they develop intellectually and personally, offering honors courses, faculty mentoring, an individual research project, as well as extracurricular activities such as cultural outings to popular New York destinations and leadership training sessions.

She was also deeply committed to waterfowl conservation. Additionally, she served on the faculty at SUNY Oswego as well as being active in her local community and working to reach rural populations. A frequent speaker, she championed its preservation.

Personal Life

Tim was an devoted family man, spending quality time with his wife and children at the lake. Additionally, he enjoyed hunting and developing custom wildlife food plots on his farm before vacationing at Bluegreen Resorts across the United States.

Before becoming a realtor, Daniel worked as a conservation officer on Kentucky and Barkley Lakes, giving him valuable exposure to state parks, marinas, and the adjacent residential neighborhoods on these lakes.

He was the proud parent of three sons and one daughter; his mother Cort passed away in 2022. For most of his life he resided at 106 North Avenue in Lake Bluff Village where his first wife was also an active charter member of Lake Bluff Bath & Tennis Club as well as owning 200 Oak Terrace in Chicago and 200 Oak Terrace itself in Indiana.
