David Canyon is located within the Sandia Ranger District of Cibola National Forest and National Grasslands of New Mexico and it’s a popular hiking and horseback riding trail.

Early Life and Education

David’s parents were passionate outdoor adventurers and took him along on their wilderness excursions when he was young. They took him hiking through the Sierras and on backpacking trips to Yosemite National Park.

David was initially terrified of deep ravines and roaring rivers, but eventually developed an adventurous spirit that led him to success as a wilderness guide.

In his free time, he writes and takes photographs that have been featured in a number of publications. Furthermore, his works have been showcased at numerous galleries and museums across America.

He’s an author, poet and artist. With more than a dozen books under his belt, he was recently nominated for the United States Poet Laureate award.

David recounts an extraordinary survival story in his memoir, My Country. The tale of his brother’s death and their subsequent survival in No Man’s Canyon serves as a poignant reminder that we are all bound together by those who have experienced loss.
