David Vellequette is an experienced business leader with more than three decades of expertise. He has held senior finance and operations roles at multiple technology firms.
He is currently employed as CFO of JDS Uniphase Corp, having joined the company in 2004 as vice president and operations controller. Prior to that he had served as Vice President of Worldwide Sales & Service Operations for Openwave Systems.
Early Life and Education
Dave Vellequette was raised in Los Altos, CA and graduated from Los Altos High School in 1951. Following this he continued on to the University of California Berkeley as a chemistry major until marrying Joan Marie Lynch in 1952.
Murlin and his wife had eight children, which led them to move twice; first to Huntsville, Detroit; then Los Altos in 1960 when Murlin accepted a position with Fairchild Semiconductor.
He then turned his attention to music, embarking on a tour and releasing an album that went platinum.
Dave also met Ally, his future girlfriend and featured in a music video. Ally taught Dave that love was possible and that success didn’t make him any less deserving of it.

Dave is proud to be part of the JDS Uniphase Corporation family, where he has served as Senior Vice President and member of the executive committee since 2005. Currently serving as Chief Financial Officer, he oversees all aspects of finance including accounting, internal auditing, taxation, treasury management and IT systems management. Furthermore he plays an instrumental role in strategic planning efforts as well as being major contributor to company profitability. One of Dave’s proudest moments includes launching JDS Uniphase’s Innovation Awards program – an annual honor designed to recognize employee and customer satisfaction initiatives – something Dave feels passionately about!
Dave was raised on the family farm, working as a hay baler and sheet metal worker. From an early age he learned the value of honesty and hard work; moreover, his dad made sure his children received an education and the necessary tools for success.

JDS Uniphase Corporation promoted him to Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in June 2005, after previously serving as Vice President and Operations Controller since 2004.
JDS Uniphase named him CFO from 2005 until 2012. Avaya, a $5.5 billion provider of business collaboration and communications solutions, appointed him Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Controller in October 2012, replacing Anthony Masetti.
