Dollar General Expands in Little Rock
The retail chain Dollar General is expanding in Arkansas, opening three new stores in North Little Rock. The company operates more than 10,000 locations nationwide, and a majority of its merchandise is priced at a dollar or less. The company is listed on the NYSE and has $14 billion in annual revenue. Many of its stores are located in strip malls and neighborhood shopping centers.
In a bid to combat food insecurity and other issues surrounding health equity, Dollar General has begun adding fresh produce sections to its stores. Produce is available in at least 80 percent of stores. Among the foods available at Dollar General stores include tomatoes, onions, and strawberries. The stores also stock potatoes and canned vegetables.
The company has a long history of helping shoppers save time and money by offering commonly-used and replenished products. Its stores offer everyday low prices and are conveniently located in neighborhoods. The store offers FedEx drop-off boxes for shipping packages. The package size must not exceed 55 pounds or be larger than 48″ by 25″.
As the company continues to expand, Dollar General is making an effort to attract different types of shoppers. It’s starting with the suburban female market. It’s also trying to reach out to middle-income customers. It’s introducing Popshelf stores to attract a wider range of customers. The stores are aimed at women with household incomes of $50,000 to $125,000.
