Early Life and Education
Henry Calabrese was born in West Springfield, Massachusetts to Theresa (Hanley) and Henry Calabrese and attended American International College before serving with the US Navy for several years.
Calabrese currently serves as NICHD Query, View and Report ambassador and is actively engaged in maternal health and child development research. She received both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from University of Massachusetts Amherst. Northeastern University in Boston offers this degree.
She is the mother of Tucker and Skyler and boasts an exceptional work ethic. She’s passionate about educating and motivating others and hopes to pursue higher education as her career. When not teaching or training students, she enjoys reading, writing and traveling – plus spending time with family and friends!
Professional Career
Henry Calabrese is a physician and researcher working in immunology and rheumatology. He graduated with his medical degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences before completing a residency at Cleveland Clinic. Calabrese belongs to several professional societies and has published many articles and essays over time.
He has served as a consultant to the Department of Justice and clerked for Justice Antonin Scalia and Judge Ralph K. Winter on the federal court of appeals. Additionally, he currently teaches at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law.
He is the proud parent of two children and an affectionate uncle to many nieces and nephews. A lifelong communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in Agawam, he loves spending his free time on the beach.

Calabrese was honored to earn both first-team All-MAC and honorable mention All-American accolades in 1972, when he set an all-time school catching mark of 62 passes at UT that still ranks second all-time for receptions at this university. Furthermore, Calabrese scored two touchdowns in the East-West Shrine Bowl that same season.
Dr. Calabrese joined GSDM’s faculty in 1992, serving as Director of Geriatric Dental Medicine, course lecturer, and Deputy Title IX Coordinator. Additionally, he is a member of Massachusetts Dental Association as well as being involved with Greater Boston Food Bank, Hebrew Senior Life, Roslindale & Dedham Neighborhood Houses through volunteer efforts.
Personal Life
He loved spending his free time with family and friends, cooking meals for those he cared about, fishing for fun and attending St John’s parish in Agawam – often spending his free time relaxing at the beach.
After returning to South Africa, he joined the African National Congress (ANC), helping form its Youth League. Rising through its ranks to become its National Volunteer-in-Chief in 1952.
At that time, he participated in the Defiance Campaign and civil disobedience protests against six unjust laws. Later that same year in Kliptown he witnessed the adoption of the Freedom Charter that signaled the start of mass-based programmes within the ANC.
