Jack Alvarez – Marshall ISD Athletic Director and Football Coach
Jack Alvarez, the former head coach at Cuero High School in Cuero, Texas has been appointed Marshall Independent School District (ISD)’s new athletic director and football coach, replacing Jake Griedl who left to assume duties at Bastrop High School.
Canelo is demanding that they meet again on similar terms to when Canelo lost in November. This shows he hasn’t learned from past defeat.
Early Life and Education
Two years ago, Jack Alvarez began having seizures, often brought on by stress or frustration. According to Jessica Lopez, these episodes have progressed from being rare and occurring occasionally to happening every day; she even lost her job to care for him at home while Rolling Green Elementary School staff only provide him one hour of digital instruction each week plus homework assignments she does at home.
At a special meeting Friday afternoon, Cuero school board approved Alvarez to become their head football coach and athletic director for the Bulldawgs football program. Alvarez replaces Jake Griedl who left Marshall to accept a position at Bastrop. With 24 years of coaching experience and a record of 193-93 across three schools (Ennis High School in 2014; Kirbyville twice between 2008-09), Alvarez previously led both to state title game appearances in recent years.
Professional Career
Jack Alvarez is an East Texas high school football coach and athletic director with 24 years of experience at West Sabine, Kirbyville, Ennis and Copperas Cove high schools. In 2014 he led them to win Class 5A Division II state title under him.
He published his book on professional wrestling in 2005 and served as a columnist for online British wrestling magazine Fighting Spirit, while hosting various sports-related talk shows, such as Wrestling Observer Live and Wrestling Weekly on Fight Network.
Alvarez will take over one of East Texas’s most successful programs as athletic director and head football coach at Marshall. Griedl left to accept an opportunity in Bastrop.
Achievement and Honors
Alvarez first made her mark with the publication of How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents (1991). This novel recounts four sisters from a Dominican family who move to America and attempt to integrate into American culture while trying to lose their accents, becoming classic works of Latinx literature in its time.
He is also the author of Something to Declare (1998). Additionally, he has taught at numerous universities such as Idaho State University and Creighton University.
Jacob Griedl recently retired as Cuero High’s football coach and athletic director, so he recently took over. Under his direction, Gobblers saw two playoff appearances last season, leading them to both playoff appearances as they earned 193-93 victory record overall in 24 years at Kirbyville and Copperas Cove schools before Cuero High.
Personal Life
As part of his personal life, he enjoys spending time with family. Additionally, he likes traveling and discovering new places–his favorite being Hawaii. Additionally, he currently works at Lument’s Small Balance Loan Production Department as an Associate Director where he advises clients on financing options available for multi-unit properties.
Jack Alvarez enjoyed his two years coaching Cuero High School football team but missed being close to family in East Texas and decided to accept Marshall High School’s athletic director and head football coaching position instead of leaving Cuero altogether and coach at Bastrop High School as planned. Jake Griedl had recently left him behind for this new position at Marsh.
He recently created works which combine Klee’s quixotic surrealism, Cy Twombly’s scrawling mark-making, and what could be seen as outer space petroglyphs into abstract works that reflect on human motivations to blend in or stand out. These minimalist metaphors symbolize how human motivations vary; either try fitting in, or stand out a bit from society.
Net Worth
He has amassed an impressive salary through his footballing career and, additionally, generates additional revenue via endorsement and sponsorship deals with well-known brands such as Adidas and Coppel Tecate.
He has made appearances on television and in movies, such as Nickelodeon’s young adult sitcom Every Witch Way and Netflix’s mockumentary American Vandal. Additionally, he is an avid car collector with vehicles such as Mercedes SLS AMG Black Series to Lamborghini Aventador in his garage.
He has also invested in various real estate projects and other business ventures to increase his net worth, such as his recent $278 Million contract with streaming platform DAZN for 11 fights – one of the largest contracts ever signed in sports history.
