The Diver and Artist Jack Haslam

Jack Haslam’s story is truly inspiring. An extraordinary diver, he has earned himself a place among sports professionals with numerous accolades for his skills and achievements.

He was born August 9, 1995 in England to Ross Haslam. At 24 years old he works professionally as a diver.

Early Life and Education

Jack Haslam’s latest commissioned painting, entitled Ark, depicts an animated Noah’s Ark scene with animals stacked up in little squares reminiscent of Noah.

Haslam, a political science major at UT Austin, was among 15 students selected for the inaugural class of Haslam Scholars program at the university. Established with a gift from former Gov. Bill Haslam and Dee, Haslam Scholars promote scholarly research, civic engagement and community leadership.

Jack Haslam has had an eventful 2009! The British diver made his Commonwealth Games debut at Gold Coast and competed in 1m and 3m Synchro events with brother Ross, as well as winning bronze at Group B 3m Springboard at European Junior Championships 2009.

Professional Career

Jack is an artist renowned for exhibiting various pieces worldwide, with his latest, “Ark”, being commissioned by Shape.

He currently holds the founding presidency of Haslam College of Business Student Leadership Council, having held this position for three years. Additionally, he founded The Foresight Academy which trains leaders on how to use strategic foresight techniques to create and shape their own futures.

At Snetterton this weekend, he’ll look to end a run of underwhelming results as he pursues his Bennetts British Superbike title bid. Currently 14 points adrift from Buildbase Suzuki’s Bradley Ray in the standings, he kept himself sharp during midseason break testing at Suzuka for Kawasaki.

Achievement and Honors

He is the only individual diver to win medals in all three springboard events at the British Championships, teaming up with City of Sheffield teammate Freddie Woodward for bronze in 3m synchro. Furthermore, he holds Commonwealth Games gold.

He holds membership with Sigma Chi fraternity and Young Life ministry, was elected to the Chancellor’s Honors program, received numerous academic awards and recognitions including winning the Alexander Prize.

Haslam leaves behind his wife Mary Smallwood Haslam of Oklahoma City; son Jason Haslam and daughter Jennifer Wolf from Sapulpa, OK; his brother Ross Haslam in Del City, OH, nieces, nephews, family, friends and church family as well as an avid following of hunting and fishing activities at Lake Tenkiller with his family, grandchildren and wife Mary Smallwood Haslam camping trips together.

Personal Life

Haslam manages to live an active and healthy lifestyle despite being extremely busy with his career, enjoying numerous sports as well as reading books and magazines for pleasure.

Haslam serves as president of Pilot Corporation and member of the board at Harold’s Stores Inc, in addition to part ownership in Tennessee Smokies minor league baseball team. Married to Crissy Garrett and together they have three children – one son and two daughters.
