Early Life and Education

Jason McCrimmon grew up playing hockey at Jack Adams Memorial Arena. Later he went on to compete at Division III college hockey before turning professional and joining the United Hockey League. Personal Life

McCrimmon is the founder and majority owner of Detroit Ice Dreams, a nonprofit youth hockey program dedicated to increasing access for children from underrepresented communities. Additionally, he coaches the Motor City Gamblers of the United States Premier Hockey League who provide top talent to college and major junior teams.

His organization, Detroit Ice Dreams, operates from his childhood home and each year members take part in community service projects such as volunteering at Gleaners Community Food Bank or feeding and giving blessing bags to homeless individuals. McCrimmon attributes the value of giving back to your neighborhood or community to his mother’s guidance.

He noted how being honored as a Game Changer by both teams was both an honor and incredible privilege for him, as it gave him an opportunity to inspire children from his hometown and help them meet their goals both on and off the ice.

Detroit native Steve has an engaging personality, which allows him to connect well with young people. A devoted father without an overly developed ego or fear of speaking his mind freely when necessary.

His coaching success extends beyond junior teams; he currently co-owns Tier III Motor City Hockey Club in Troy and teaches kids the fundamentals while cultivating an appreciation for hockey.

He serves as coach to Arizona Coyotes prospect Jalen Smereck, who plays defense for the Flint Firebirds of Ontario Hockey League. Additionally, he trains players such as Rochester Institute of Technology alum Cameron Burt (currently playing with Starbulls Rosenheim in German Bundesliga) and Tarasai Karega who competed in 2016 Ms. Hockey USA title game competition.
