Early Life and Education

Early childhood education is a critical component of a child’s health and well-being. Studies show that small class sizes and teacher interaction help children develop essential emotional skills like self-confidence, self-regulation of emotions, self-expression, and positive self-belief.

When young children have these foundational skills, they are more prepared to learn new subjects and challenges. As a result, they grow up with strong learning attitudes and intellectual abilities that will serve them throughout their lives.

As a result, early childhood education is becoming a major public policy issue with debates over how much money to spend on preschool programs and how to best prepare children for school. The Center on the Social and Emotional Foundations for Early Learning offers resources to help families provide early learning opportunities for their children.
