The King’s New Year Honours List has recognized a number of community heroes from Lancashire. Nina Beavers from Blackpool and Chris Upton, head teacher of Tarleton Community Primary School in Burnley, are both MBE recipients.

John Morgan, sports and PE lecturer at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), has been honoured for a lifetime’s dedication to teaching sport in the county. His award comes following a 34-year career which has seen him work at Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School, Preston College and as a rugby coach for the likes of Blackburn and Preston Grasshoppers.
