John Littzi, a First-Time General Counsel at Coalition Inc.

John Littzi is a newly appointed General Counsel at Coalition. Prior to that, he served as sole deputy general counsel at W. R. Berkley Corporation – an S&P 500 company and one of the largest commercial lines property & casualty insurance holding companies in America.

On Monday, cybersecurity insurance provider Coalition appointed Jim Young as chief financial officer and John Littzi as general counsel. These new appointments come after a $250 million investment in Coalition last month that increased its valuation to $5 billion.

Professional Career

John Littzi is the General Counsel for Coalition Inc., an insurance holding company headquartered in New York City. He oversees Coalition’s global legal affairs and serves as principal counsel to its founder and CEO Joshua Motta, senior management team members, and board of directors. John has been employed at the company since 2017.

On March 21, 2019, W. R. Berkley Corporation announced the appointment of John Littzi to senior vice president and deputy general counsel, while Neil Keenan has been promoted to vice president and senior counsel, both positions effective immediately. Since joining the company in 2011, Littzi had served as both vice president and senior counsel, taking on additional responsibilities through corporate and investment transactions each year.

John Littzi currently serves as Chair of The New York Pops, an opera company located in New York City. He has served on its board of directors since 2017, having previously served as Chairman of The Jacksonville Symphony and President of the League of American Orchestras. With extensive experience in arts advisory and advocacy roles with various organizations, he was recently appointed General Counsel to Coalition Inc. He previously held a similar role at W. R. Berkley Corporation – an S&P 500 company and one of America’s largest commercial lines property & casualty insurance holding companies – before that he served as sole Deputy General Counsel to W. R. Berkley Corporation – another S&P 500 company with national reach – before that he served as sole Deputy General Counsel to W. R. Personal Life

John Littzi enjoys music, gardening, traveling and spending time with family. He and his wife Sarah ’04 have two children Sara and Elijah ’16; in their free moments they enjoy playing guitars and pianos as well as reading books and visiting museums. On weekends they like to bike around nearby towns or go abroad to China where they took in its sights and sounds; meeting new people while learning about its culture was perhaps their favorite part!
