John Rubinetti, a Former Lyndhurst High School Teacher, is Accused of Sexually Abusing a Student in Her Senior Year

John Rubinetti is a Physical Education teacher and head football coach at Lyndhurst High School in New Jersey, who was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly having sexual relations with a student.

He was charged with child endangerment and witness tampering after another high school teacher reported their relationship to the district.

Early Life and Education

Prosecutors allege former Lyndhurst High School teacher John Rubinetti sexually abusing a student during her senior year. Prosecutors claim the woman went to one of his former students, who then reported it to authorities.

The Nutley resident has been charged with five counts of official misconduct, sexual assault, child endangerment and witness tampering. His arraignment is scheduled for January 31 and bail has been set at $150,000 dollars.

He is married and has a daughter, Stephanie Rubinetti Wilde. She works at the King Center on Global Development as an associate director of development and hails from Paraguay with a bachelor’s degree in Spanish as well as an MA in education administration and supervision from New Jersey City University. At present, they’re visiting Ireland with friends. His wife has made no comments regarding his arrest.

Professional Career

John Rubinetti has been in the finance industry for more than three decades. Currently, he serves as SVP/GM of Commercial Middle Market Segment at Fiserv; previously, he held positions with several other companies.

On Wednesday, Lyndhurst High School’s physical education teacher and head football coach were arrested for allegedly having sexual relations with a student between 2009 and 2010. He has been charged with sexual assault, child endangerment and witness tampering.

Prior to joining Heidrick & Struggles, John worked for a New York-based contingency recruitment firm where he assisted in building their capabilities in direct lending and other illiquid credit strategies. Furthermore, John served as Principal within Heidrick & Struggles’ Global Private Equity Practice by recruiting investment professionals and operating partners from both general partner and limited partner communities.

Achievements and Honors

Rubinetti earned four seasons of college soccer at Montclair State University, including a school-record 19 assists in 1990 as the Red Hawks reached the NCAA Tournament. Additionally, he was a two-time First-Team All-NJAC selection and 1991 Regional All-American.

He holds a Bachelor of Science from Montclair State and an Master’s in Educational Administration and Supervision from New Jersey City University, serving as head coach of the Park Ridge High School Golden Bears.

He was recently arrested for an alleged sexual relationship with a student. This arrest was reported by another teacher who reported the alleged relationship. Currently, he remains jailed in Bergen County Jail without bond and has no contact with either the alleged victim or her family members. This arrest marks the second this month in Bergen County alone.

John Rubinetti is an experienced private equity practitioner that caters to the general partner and limited partner communities. He specializes in buyout, growth equity and distressed funds sectors. John is part of Heidrick & Struggles’ global Private Equity Practice located in New York City.

On Wednesday, Robert Rubinetti – a physical education teacher and head football coach at Lyndhurst High School in Lyndhurst, New Jersey – was arrested and accused of having sexual relations with a student between 2009 and 2010. A 1990 graduate of Lyndhurst, he had been employed by the school district since 2004. This arrest marks the second this month that an educator has been arrested in Bergen County for an alleged relationship with a student; authorities reported that when asked about it by police about it, Rubinetti instructed her to lie about it when questioned about it.
