Jarome Iginla and His Wife Kara Iginla
Jarome Iginla has proven his opponents can never underestimate him when he takes to the ice, scoring over 525 goals over 21-seasons with the Calgary Flames, Pittsburgh Penguins, Boston Bruins and Colorado Avalanche. When Jarome steps on a hockey rink his opponents know exactly what they are in for; Iginla has earned induction into the 2020 Hockey Hall of Fame Class as well as becoming an inductee into that prestigious group.
He and his wife Kara have three children – daughter Jade and sons Tij and Joe – all avid hockey players who keep them occupied at home. Their household is the center of hockey activity.
Early Life and Education
Jarome Iginla was born in Edmonton, Alberta on 1 July 1977 and played over 20 seasons of National Hockey League (NHL) hockey primarily with Calgary Flames.
Susan Schuchard of Oregon raised him and worked as both a massage therapist and music teacher; she remains an integral part of his career and still attends many of his games.
Iginla is married to Kara Kirkland and together they have three children. Jade Iginla attended Shattuck-Saint Mary’s and Kelowna RINK Hockey Academy before going on to represent both Brown University and Team Canada internationally as a hockey player. Additionally, Tij and Joe play for various NHL development leagues.
Iginla holds many franchise scoring records for both the Calgary Flames and Colorado Avalanche, and is widely respected for his charitable efforts, such as supporting Edmonton John Howard Society donations or running his hockey school in Calgary.
Retired NHL star Steve Ducharme and wife Kara have three children together; the pair met in grade seven and have been inseparable ever since. Daughter Jade currently plays for University of Alberta Pandas women’s hockey team while son Tij has set his sights on professional ice hockey as a career path.
Iginla is part-owner of the Kamloops Blazers and has operated a non-profit hockey school in Calgary since 2002, with proceeds donated to Diabetes Research Association. Additionally, he serves as an ambassador for NHL Diversity program.
Achievement and Honors
Kara Iginla, wife of former NHLer Jarome Iginla and proud mother to their three children Jade, Tij and Joe who all play hockey is an admirable lady who lives in Kelowna British Columbia with her family.
Iginla and Kara met in eighth-grade French class and went on to date for more than a decade before getting engaged and marrying in 2003. Together they are blessed with three wonderful children, all who love playing hockey; it makes their home an athletic environment where their kids often compete against one another in tournaments – an inspiration to others as well.

Jarome and Kara met in seventh-grade French class, and have since been happily living together with three amazing children: Jade, Tij, and Joe Iginla.
Jade currently plays for the Brown Bears women’s hockey team and represented Canada at the 2022 IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship.
Joe continues to play for the RINK Kelowna U-15 preparation team while simultaneously striving to follow in his father’s footsteps by becoming a professional ice hockey player himself. His Instagram account showcases all his ice hockey memories – it truly has turned them into an all-hockey household!
Iginla’s impressive career in ice hockey has earned him immense wealth. Additionally, his charitable giving is notable; in 2000 he began making contributions of one thousand dollars per goal scored to KidSport and later increased this donation amount by twofold.
He owns an interest in the Kamloops Blazers of the Western Hockey League and holds endorsement deals with Scotibank and Samsung Canada, in addition to supporting diabetes research with two Olympic teams and setting multiple franchise scoring records with the Flames.
Kara was his high school sweetheart and the couple have three children together: daughters Jade and Tij. The family currently resides in Kelowna, British Columbia where the pair has been together since grade eight – an example of true enduring love!
