Liam Keaney Wins Paul M Gervais Memorial Scholarship

Early Life and Education
The Leitrim Society of Boston regrets to inform its membership of Sean Keaney’s passing on Thursday November 5th. Sean was the beloved son of Jimmy and Julie Keaney of Milton and Quincy and is survived by sister Corinne Getchell and Gary Getchell as well as brothers James, Kevin, Daniel Keaney of Stoughton as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins in both America and Ireland. Sean attended Burncoat High School before receiving the Paul M Gervais Memorial Scholarship offered by Worcester Education Development Foundation.
Liam Keaney is an accomplished professional with extensive experience across numerous fields. Known for being a strong problem-solver and team leader, his expertise lies primarily in intelligence operations as well as special operations – with extensive knowledge in motivating teams and training soldiers.
Liam is an National Honor Society member; participates on baseball, football and robotics teams; volunteers for Burncoat Unites after-school music program; and plays jazz bass with Worcester Youth Big Band. He plans on majoring in mathematics at either UMass Amherst, Westfield State University or Hartford’s Heart School of Music – his college admissions have already been received for this degree pursuit.
Achievement and Honors
Keaney has not only excelled academically, but he is also active in school’s National Honor Society; baseball and robotics teams; ski club; Burncoat Unites after-school music program and plays jazz bass in Kinetic Five jazz ensemble along with Matt Padula, Dylan Walter and Ethan Ni.
Rancho Cotate is the reigning North Bay League-Oak champion and looks poised to repeat their victory this year. Rising senior quarterback Liam Keaney seems more at home at the helm this year compared to last season and made several impressive plays during tournament play, targeting wide receiver Sailasa Vadrawale and Ananias Walker for points. On defense, Jacob Pruitt, Topotu Hale and Tyler Nixon provide valuable experience.
The Worcester Education Development Foundation is delighted to announce that Liam Keaney, a Senior at Burncoat High School has been honored with the Paul M. Gervais Memorial Scholarship. Liam’s community involvement includes membership in National Honor Society; baseball, robotics and ski teams; as well as Burncoat Unites after-school Music Program as well as jazz bassist.
Liam Kerrigan of Tubbercurry first got into soccer as an Under-21 with UCD while studying commerce in Dublin; today he is playing for Como 1907 of Italy’s Serie B league alongside Premier League and European Champion Cesc Fabregas!
His acceptance into three different universities — University of Massachusetts Amherst, Westfield State University and the University of Hartford’s Heart School of Music — ensures he will continue to thrive academically. We know he will do great!
Keaney has found his form since rejoining Dublin this season, maintaining both club and county success with Ballyboden St Enda’s, while winning his seventh county championship after replaying Kilmacud Crokes in an exciting replayed final final.
Keaney showed great skill with both ball and bat as she took a maiden five-wicket haul to help Chelmsford defeat Harold Wood by an impressive margin in their 12th round match. Chelmsford were led by Jack Sterland who scored an outstanding 196 in reply to Harold Wood’s total of 311/4.
Hamzah Ikram and Shahzad Hafeez’s opening pair was dismissed without scoring as their home side failed to make an impression at the crease.
