Luca was raised by two teachers – her mother was an SGT educator and her father an administrator at Fisher Theater – both being passionate educators themselves. While growing up she participated in extracurricular dance programs as well as theater productions at Fisher Theatre with students.

After about one week, Luca’s body began responding to his bone marrow transplant (BMT). He started taking naps more regularly and became more irritable than normal. Soon thereafter, his biceps began hurting so he had to stop playing with his siblings; peeing amber-colored urine became an additional indicator that something may be amiss.
