Early Life and Education
Aresty began his clothing industry career as a clerk for a Greenwich, CT firm before co-founding Alfred Dunner – a manufacturer of women’s apparel – with two of his brothers in the early Sixties. He eventually transformed the company into one of the leading apparel brands in America, boasting such notable labels as AE, Ruby Rd. Emaline and Skye’s the Limit. After retiring from apparel retail in 1995, Joseph Aresty established The Catherine and Joseph Aresty Foundation with a mission of charitable outreach that prioritizes education. The foundation has provided substantial funding to organizations working to help New York City students with modest means gain access to quality education. Furthermore, Donor’s Education Collaborative and Early Childhood Partners NYC both pooled fund collectives that strive to enhance educational opportunities in metropolitan areas have also received support.

He has generously contributed to USC as well as institutions including Rochester University’s Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center as well as Harvard’s Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Massachusetts. Joseph currently resides with Catherine in both Greenwich Connecticut and Mamaroneck New York with two sons and five grandchildren.
