Early Life and Education
Steve Craver is an active businessman and author who participates in civic and charitable endeavors. He frequently speaks at leadership summits, vocational venues and schools worldwide and has helped numerous people attain success both professionally and personally.
In 1992, Carver published his early writings as part of an anthology. This volume contained short stories which first appeared in student literary magazines, yet still convey complexities of action and motive with subtle undercurrents of repressed violence that are artful depictions. These tales also utilize some novel literary devices like flashbacks and experimentation with verb tenses–technologies Carver would use later on. These works earned Carver attention from film directors such as Robert Altman and Roger Corman and were featured in movies like Steel and Fast Charlie Moonbeam Rider.
Professional Career
Steve Craver is an accomplished business manager and entrepreneur. Additionally, he holds certifications as both life coach and strategic business planner and frequently speaks at national conventions and corporate gatherings – often speaking alongside leaders in business, government, arts & entertainment and the nonprofit sectors.
World War II saw him working as a radio operator and, later, joining Duquesne University Tamburitzans – an ensemble of musical entertainers – both as tambura player and dancer. Over his five-year tenure with them he performed across every state and 35 countries!
Later in his career, he created industrial non-flammable hydraulic fluids used for die casting, furnace door operations and underground coal machinery. Additionally, he managed the New York office of Writers & Artists literary agency where he represented playwrights and directors such as David Henry Hwang (who won a 1992 Tony award for M. Butterfly adaptation).
Achievement and Honors
Craver is widely recognized for his skills in developing, coaching and training sales professionals and managers. The Sales Magazine recognized him as a Top Sales Trainer while The National Association of Personnel Services presented him with its Gold Standard Award.
Craver befriended Helen Menken while working in Manhattan for the Stratford Connecticut American Shakespeare Festival and as President of the American Theatre Wing. While at work on his temporary Manhattan box office switchboard manning duties for that festival, William Morris agents began calling and asking about Menken. While taking on his switchboard duties one evening, one such agent asked for her.
After departing Merrill, Craver joined Writers & Artists as partner and president of its New York office, becoming known for representing directors such as David Henry Hwang and Robert Schenkkan and shepherding M. Butterfly into its 1992 Tony award win. Additionally, Carver directed Freestyle (with Susan Blakely) for Ray Stark while simultaneously co-directing another gangster film for Roger Corman called Steel (with Lee Majors).
Personal Life
Steve Craver is the Founder and President of Communicate to Connect, where he coaches and trains thousands of business executives each year. Additionally, he often serves as a keynote speaker at national conventions or corporate gatherings composed of leaders from major corporations, financial institutions, non-profits etc.
He started every game during his Nebraska career (38 straight starts) and became its top cornerback during his senior year, notching 192 tackles and 41 pass breakups to rank fourth on Nebraska’s all-time list. Additionally, he blocked two punts during the Holiday Bowl win over No. 2 Kansas State and set an all-time Nebraska tackle mark of 4,684.
JoAnn leaves behind her beloved daughter Linda (Sam) Eidenberger McKay and Richard; two beautiful granddaughters Whitney and Macy who she loved dearly; as well as many friends she left behind. Rest in Peace dear one – we miss you so!

Craver has focused his philanthropy efforts on women and minorities. He serves on the board of Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media as well as providing counsel for Tyra Banks SMiZE & Dream Foundation. Furthermore, Craver specializes in entertainment/media-led charities/foundations as well as providing advice to high net worth individuals regarding their charitable endeavors.
He boasts an expansive portfolio, comprising investments in media, food service and technology companies. Some of his recent deals include representing Entertainment 360 and Grandview as management companies; documentary producer Boardwalk Pictures as a documentary producer; and basketballer Stephen Curry’s Unanimous Media as an investor.
Additionally, he’s participated in the sale of several music catalogs including Leonard Cohen’s to Hipgnosis Song Management. Furthermore, he closed on Iconoclasts the sale of musician Mike Posner’s publishing catalog for Iconoclasts Publishing Catalogs. Additionally he’s an active board member for Minnesota State Fair.
