Steve Worley is a family man and business owner. Additionally, he operates Worley Bugger Fly Co in Ellensburg, Washington and enjoys fly fishing.
Steve currently serves as Chair of NCAR’s Data Stewardship Engineering Team (DSET). This group’s goal is to make all digital assets at NCAR available to researchers for research use.
Early Life and Education
After graduating Butte High School in 1984, he moved to California and apprenticed in iron working. There he learned how to operate steel shearing machines and overhead cranes; to fill any missing Montanan skies or rivers by fly fishing on Kern River.
His experience includes the resolution of complex cases, multi-party global settlement conferences and ERISA disability claims. His practice also encompasses representation of self-insured companies, insurers and corporations in all aspects of civil litigation and insurance defense.
In 1989, he began working in Nigeria alongside Dr. Aguh and others. Since then he has traveled frequently and labored there yearly; all this is overseen by Savannah Church of Christ.
Professional Career
Worley excelled as an All-SEC running back for the University of Georgia during his collegiate career, becoming a key component in their 1985 team’s victory against No. 1-ranked Florida. Worley led UGA rushing with 2,758 yards that season while tallying 10 touchdowns and being second leading rusher overall.
His expertise in data management was instrumental to the success of this project, which continues to be implemented and used globally today as a standard for ocean surface datasets. He was also an exceptional family man.
He loved hiking and camping with Robin and their children. In his free time he excelled as an accomplished drift boat rower and explored diverse destinations. Additionally, he founded Worley Bugger Fly Co.
Achievement and Honors
Worley has long been acknowledged for his excellence as both educator and coach, winning region, state and national coaching honors for both girls and boys basketball teams he coached. Additionally, numerous awards and accolades were bestowed upon him for his work within his community.
Additionally, he has completed multiple Pastoral Specific Seminary programs and the 15-hour Law Enforcement Chaplaincy Training School. Together with Anna, he travels extensively preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ across denominational lines, race/culture/socioeconomic status distinctions.
She earned her diploma at Sycamore High School and participated in various activities, such as volleyball (grades 9 and 10), track, cross country running and Spanish Club. In addition, she won the William Johnson Memorial Award as well as being selected to receive the South Prairie Scholarship Award.
Personal Life
Steve Worley possesses an enthusiastic love of nature that extends far beyond work. He frequently spends his free time exploring wooded areas or on waterways – an interest which he passes down to his two sons.
Mr. Lee is also an avid cyclist, having competed in various races throughout the United States and winning three masters world championship gold medals in individual time trial competition.
He is an active member of Sumner Presbyterian Church and has traveled all over the globe. Additionally, he holds certification in circuit civil mediation and handles high-value cases such as multi-party global settlement conferences and ERISA disability claims. Furthermore, his extensive defense industry experience will allow him to successfully oversee HawkEye 360’s business initiatives.
Net Worth
Worley has gone beyond being a successful skier to also work extensively in Africa. Together with Dee, they have labored in Nigeria since 1989 and seen tremendous church growth there. Additionally, Uganda, Chad, and Niger Republic have also benefitted greatly from his work.
He currently practices from our Jacksonville office, practicing general civil litigation, insurance defense, transportation and premises liability matters. Martindale-Hubble has given him an AV rating, making him one of Florida’s Top Lawyers.
