Early Life and Education

Blackwood hails from Roswell and graduated with high honors from Georgia Tech before enrolling at Medical College of Georgia to study medicine. Since graduating, he has specialized in foot and ankle care as a board eligible orthopaedic surgeon at Oxford Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine in Oxford Mississippi where he treats both local residents as well as Ole Miss athletic teams.

Blackwood initially sought acting work in Hollywood during the late nineties and managed to secure several one-day temporary roles on Days of Our Lives by portraying everything from florists and bank tellers, to roles such as bank teller. Yet he wanted more permanent acting roles.

In 2008, the Blackwood family established the Alex Blackwood Foundation for Hope to advance collaboration for suicide awareness and prevention. Steve enjoys reading novels and writing them himself while playing baseball and cheering for the Cincinnati Reds in his free time.

Professional Career

Blackwood serves as Teledyne’s Senior Vice President of Treasury and oversees all its financing activities, having closed more than $11 Billion worth of equity, debt and venture capital financing transactions in his tenure there. Prior to Teledyne he held similar treasury roles at Amgen Inc and Pacific Energy Partners.

Blackwood’s acting credits span far beyond Days of Our Lives; his television and movie credits include Quantum Leap, Judging Amy, NYPD Blue and Ed Gein – not to mention numerous voiceovers he’s done over time.

Blackwood enjoys singing in his spare time and playing jazz piano, having amassed an extensive library of songs. A regular at Baker’s Keyboard Lounge in Salem, he has also released multiple albums of his own work.

Blackwood has been serving on the National Archives Advisory Committee on Preservation since 1994 and is involved in numerous preservation-related projects and consultancies for libraries and museums, as well as working with NPR’s Lost and Found Sound service to restore materials submitted by callers.

Mr. Williamson specializes in restoration engineering and jazz scholarship, specializing in 78 rpm recordings by Duke Ellington and Ivie Anderson; additionally he has participated in reissue projects with Naxos Records and other labels.
