Steven Lipiner earned his Bachelor of Arts from State University of New York at Buffalo and an MBA from Baruch College. Since 2011, Lipiner has served on the boards of directors for Boston Healthcare for the Homeless Program where he chairs its investments committee; Victory Programs as treasurer; he grew up in Dimock Pennsylvania but currently resides in Brooklyn with Amy; occasionally guest lecturing at Brandeis University; he may return one day as a history teacher.

He began his banking career at BankBoston/Fleet Bank, holding various finance and operations roles before joining Mellon Financial Corporation as chief financial officer of both Mellon Institutional Asset Management and later Mellon International in London in 2002.
