Steven Littleson, President and CEO of Central Maine Healthcare

Steve Littleson has served as regional president of Jefferson Health in Philadelphia as well as being president and chief operating officer for Hackensack Meridian Health’s hospitals division and chief operating officer. At Central Maine Healthcare he oversees two rural community hospitals located in Rumford and Bridgton.

He holds three degrees: a bachelor’s degree from Gettysburg College, a master of health administration degree from George Washington University and a doctorate in business administration from Walden University.

Early Life and Education

Steven Littleson is president of Central Maine Healthcare, overseeing Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston and Rumford and Bridgton hospitals. In this role since 2020, Littleson previously held positions with Jefferson Health of Philadelphia as regional president, and later at Hackensack Meridian Health (New Jersey).

He holds both his Bachelor’s and Master of Health Administration from Gettysburg College as well as his Doctorate from Walden University, respectively.

He has served as chairman of the board for New Jersey Hospital Association and as a guest lecturer in Beijing at Peking University’s MBA program.

Steven Littleson is an accomplished healthcare leader with extensive leadership experience across multiple hospitals on the East Coast. Most recently he served as Chief Integration and Operating Officer of Lancaster General Health in Pennsylvania; prior to this position he held senior roles at Jefferson Health in Philadelphia and Hackensack Meridian Health in New Jersey.

He holds a bachelor of business administration from Gettysburg College, a master’s in health services administration from Milken Institute School of Public Health at George Washington University and a doctorate in business administration from Walden University. In addition, he is a fellow of American College of Healthcare Executives as well as having served on boards including those for New Jersey Hospital Association and New Jersey Council of Teaching Hospitals.

Littleson played an integral part in merging and acquiring companies at Hackensack Meridian as well as leading an organizational transformation effort. Additionally, he worked to implement high reliability principles at Hackensack Meridian.

Steven Littleson is a highly accomplished healthcare leader who has held leadership positions at numerous hospitals on the East Coast. Currently he serves as president and CEO of Central Maine Healthcare which operates Lewiston-based Central Maine Medical Center as well as Rumford Hospital and Bridgton Hospital subsidiaries.

Littleson joined CMH Health System in 2020, and since his predecessor Jeff Brickman’s departure on July 19, has served as CEO. In his current capacity he oversees both integration of high quality delivery system as well as operations of cancer center.

He holds three degrees – a bachelor’s from Gettysburg College, masters in health services administration from The George Washington University and doctorates in business management from Walden University – and lives in Raymond with his wife Debra and Old English Sheepdog Liberty.
