Since then he has joined Beethoven’s Nightmare, a deaf band composed of himself (guitarist), Ed Chevy (bassist), and Bob Hiltermann (drummer). Steven Longo is an award-winning project architect with over two decades of experience designing buildings for higher education institutions in the mid-Atlantic region. His designs specialize in student housing, student centers, and academic buildings for university campuses.
He holds a bachelor of graphic design degree and is proficient with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign software. Additionally, his innovative work in logos, package designs and branding have earned him international acclaim.
He currently teaches at Boston University’s School of Communications and serves as program lead for its graduate career services department. Working closely with students on resumes, job searches and interview skills development. In addition, he teaches classes on web programming, computer networking security and physics. With an avid interest in emerging trends within IT – particularly those related to cybersecurity – he strives to incorporate those concepts into his classes.

He was an inspiration to deaf people around the world and proved that anything is possible when one puts their mind to it. Additionally, he was an active member of his church and loved helping people when possible.
Longo has been selected as a semi-finalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy and received a postgraduate scholarship from the National Football Foundation. Longo holds an impressive 3.74 GPA while majoring in Public Health at Johns Hopkins University.
Additionally, he became the first deaf person ever to earn a black belt under legendary Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner Rickson Gracie and also serves as defensive coach of Johns Hopkins Blue Jays football team – where his star pupil Sam Howell has already amassed 65 touchdowns this season alone!
Personal Life
Longo has always incorporated his personal life into his artistic endeavors, particularly during the 1970s when he led and performed with Robert Longo’s Menthol Wars in New York rock clubs; its name derived from Menthol cigarettes.
Longo has also worked as a freelance illustrator, producing artwork for album covers, brochures and magazines. Furthermore, Longo has used his skills to produce paintings on topics related to death and loss.
Longo spends his free time sailing and working jigsaw puzzles. He belongs to both the Society for the Education of American Sailors (SEAS) and Cedar Point Yacht Club in Westport; additionally he volunteers at Special Olympics Connecticut.
