Dolores and Robert Welber founded Studio Oliv with a deep belief in children needing both intellect and emotion in order to thrive, while adhering to Montessori educational principles.

At this point, several major public projects had already been completed during this period: an SC Johnson research tower, a Unitarian meeting house in Madison and several buildings for Florida Southern College were constructed; in addition, there were unbuilt plans such as hotels for Dallas and Hollywood as well as mile-high towers in Chicago and Ahmedabad India that ultimately were never realized.

Olive Pink studied art in Hobart and was greatly influenced by the teachings of her headmistresses, Miss Sarah Walker (a Quaker), and Miss Poppy Clarke. In 1907 she exhibited four pictures at the Tasmanian Art Society including “Carnations”, “Nasturtiums”, and ‘In Grandmother’s Garden”.
