Tom Bechert, 77, of Fort Thomas, Kentucky, Passes Away

Tom lived in Fort Thomas, Kentucky and was an active member of Highland Country Club and ROMEO (Retired Old Men Eating Out). Additionally, he served as church elder at 1st Presbyterian Church of Fort Thomas.

At the Brother Jasper Invitational on Dec. 14, she earned 5819 points to break her school record and receive MAAC Performer of the Week accolades.

Early Life and Education

Tom was raised in Stamford, Connecticut. He attended Roxbury Elementary and Dolan Middle Schools as well as Rippowam High School before enlisting in the army as a fighter pilot in Vietnam.

Bechert is survived by his wife Carol (nee Creekmore) Bechert; sons Scott and Sara; daughter Mary; eight grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. He was a member of Highland Country Club, ROMEO and Fort Thomas Lions Clubs.

He was an esteemed teacher, researcher, and surgeon. As a visiting professor at universities around the globe – both for his scientific contributions as well as writing several books – and as an important contributor to medical instrument development, his work contributed significantly.

Professional Career

Sebastian Bechert has been practicing law since 2008. With extensive experience in civil litigation matters and successful case handling experience in Homeowner Claims, Personal Injury, Family Law and more he specializes in Homeowner Law as well as Family and Circuit Mediation services. Additionally he holds certifications as both Circuit and Family Court mediator.

He has worked at a state-wide litigation firm, where he gained expertise in handling complex jury trials. He also handled litigation matters for a major insurance carrier. As an attorney, he is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida as well as being part of Broward County Bar Association and Florida Bar Association memberships. In his free time he enjoys international travel, singing chorale choir and crossword puzzles while remaining an elder at First Presbyterian Church Fort Thomas.

Achievement and Honors

At Fairfax High School, he excelled in three sports (football, basketball and lacrosse). He earned eight varsity letters while being named All-District Quarterback four times; furthermore he won the Highest GPA Senior Scholar Athlete Award.

At Manhattan College, he earned recognition on the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team 2012-13 and broke school records for heptathlon, decathlon, pentathlon as well as earning MAAC Performer of the Week on Dec 14.

Bechert’s company Bio Gate specializes in creating innovative materials for medical and technical uses, such as implantable devices with greater tissue compatibility and lower infection risks, industrial use applications that aim for lighter materials with longer lifespans that require less maintenance, as well as novel materials specifically developed to replace current products on the market. Based out of Germany with offices located across Europe and North America (U.S. & Ireland), Bechert Bio Gate also boasts offices located across Germany itself & globally (i.e. USA and Ireland).

Personal Life

His memberships include Florida Bar Association and Broward County Law Association, where he maintains an impressive litigation experience covering Homeowner Claims, Construction Law and Divorce/Family Law cases. In addition, he holds certifications as a Circuit Court Mediator.

He specializes in cases involving personal injury, civil rights violations, divorce and family law disputes, paternity claims, real estate deals and criminal defense. Licensed to practice law both within Florida state as well as within United States District Court Middle and Southern Districts of Florida.

Carol (nee Creekmore) Bechert survives him, as well as their children, Scott Bechert and Sara O’Daniel who is married to Michael O’Daniel; eight grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and other family members who will mourn his passing deeply. He was an avid Reds fan who loved spending time with his loved ones. They will dearly miss him.

Tom attended Broad Ripple High School before enrolling at University of Cincinnati where he joined Phi Kappa Alpha Fraternity before working for Ecolab sales force as salesperson. Tom was an active member of Highland Country Club in Fort Thomas where he enjoyed golf, retired Old Men Eating Out (ROMEO), Fort Thomas Lions Club as well as being elder of 1st Presbyterian Church Fort Thomas while also an avid Reds fan!

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 55 years Carol Bechert, son Scott Bechert, daughter Sara (Michael) O’Daniel (and husband Michael O’Daniel), 8 grandchildren (Maddi, Sam, Ben, Abby, Drew Walter & Lucy), as well as sisters Bev Harrington & Carolyn Lortz as well as numerous nieces & nephews.
