Thomas McKrill Becomes Lake Catholic High School Principal
Thomas McKrill was appointed principal at Lake Catholic High School in Mentor, Ohio on June 20, succeeding Charles Fuller who had held that post since 2019.
No student excels at school perfectly all of the time; every student requires some additional assistance with assignments or classes from time to time.
Early Life and Education
Thomas McKrill joined Lake Catholic High School as principal in 2017 bringing with him years of educational experience from Notre Dame College in South Euclid and Ursuline College in Pepper Pike respectively.
This year, he introduced peer-to-peer tutoring at his school. Students can meet with two National Honor Society students during lunch periods at the Tutoring Lab to receive tutoring assistance.
In the fall, he will lead the launch of an academic program designed to assist students in math. Dubbed “Academic Challenge,” this course provides lessons that cover fundamental algebra concepts as well as its application when solving complex problems.
Professional Career
Thomas McKrill is currently serving as principal at Lake Catholic High School in Mentor, Ohio. A member of the Diocese of Cleveland, he previously held leadership roles at St Vincent-St Mary High School in Akron as dean of students and assistant principal; then as admissions leader at Notre Dame College (South Euclid) from 2013-15 before taking over Lake Catholic’s admissions leadership from 2013-15. McKrill earned both his Bachelors and Master’s in Educational Leadership degrees from Ursuline College Pepper Pike Ohio respectively.
Achievement and Honors
Thomas McKrill has earned many honors for both his professional and military endeavors. This includes being awarded with a distinguished service medal for his role as Regimental Sergeant Major of the 2nd/10th Field Regiment as well as serving as mentor of Army Reserve Task Force 3 on Operation ANODE Rotation 13.
McKrill currently serves as Principal at Lake Catholic High School in Cleveland and previously held positions as Dean of Students and Assistant Principal at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron and St. Peter Chanel High School in Bedford, Ohio.
As a board member of the British Coatings Federation and coatings industry representative for six years in Europe, he ensured that BCF would remain represented even after Brexit. His research focused on calcium signalling mechanisms including how selenium and oxysterols affect this.
Personal Life
He was an active volunteer for the Middlefield Swiss Cheese Festival and amassed an extensive collection of Chiquita Banana labels from Chiquita Banana bottles. Additionally, he resided in Middlefield throughout his lifetime and raised his family there.
At Notre Dame College of South Euclid he earned both a Bachelors and Masters degrees in Business Administration; before coming to Lake Catholic he served as dean of students/assistant principal at St Vincent-St Mary High School between 2017-2018.
Born near Peoria, Illinois in 1836, he spent some years as a traveling salesman for an agriculture implement factory before entering the insurance business and eventually becoming one of Illinois’ premier insurance brokers.
